Off to a Rocky Start

I had planned on getting started much sooner and having a few more blogs under my belt, but as always life seems to have thrown a couple of curveballs.  While everyone else was out having fun on New Years Eve, and probably enjoying a cheat meal, I was sitting in a hospital room with my mom.  She had been sick for a couple weeks and FINALLY went to the doctor.  A couple of days later they called and said the results from her blood work was back and she needed to go to the nearest hospital immediatley.  Six days after being poked and prodded in every way imaginable she was released, but they still really aren’t sure what it is.  She had a bone marrow biopsy and the results should be coming back today.

With that being said, it’s really even given me more reason to lose the weight.  My mom has been overweight for the last 30 years (and I’m turning 30…. hmmmm, sorry mom), and it’s been a constant struggle for her.  I’ve watched her try every diet imaginable and nothing has seemed to work.  I don’t really think it’s the diet, probably just her ability to stay on track, and stick with it. 

I have been overweight probably for the best 8 years or so, but it’s really gotten out of hand the last 3 or 4.  I just put a bunch of high school pictures online, and it’s like I was looking at a completely different person.  I have added probably 100 pounds, and a new chin.  So when you compound this with the health issues my mom is facing, and I will face in the future, it’s time to take action!!

The Day Before!

Hi everyone, this is the first blog in what I hope will be many in 2009.  Although this one takes place in 2008, so I guess I can’t count it towards the 2009 count.  It is December 31st and I’m thinking about New Years Resolutions. 

For about the past 5 or 6 years it seems that losing weight and living a healthy lifestyle has been at the forefront of those goals.  By using this blog and posting during the 52 day challenges, I hope to be able to stay on track and attain the goals I have set for myself.

I will have more about the goals tomorrow.  I plan on making an extensive list of goals for 2009 later today.  Some will be weight/health related, and others will be about life in general.  Not sure if I’ll post the others here, we shall see.
